Chai Chalegi!

Spoken Pakistani Urdu Step By Step

A No-Script Beginner’s Guide to Conversational Urdu, Hospitality, and Everyday Chat

Start speaking Pakistani Urdu without learning the Urdu script first.

Chai Chalegi! is a practical beginner’s guide to spoken Pakistani Urdu, designed for learners who want useful real-life conversation without beginning with a heavy grammar course.

Written in clear Roman Urdu—Urdu represented with the English alphabet—the book introduces everyday phrases, pronunciation guidance, mini dialogues, cultural context, reusable sentence patterns, exercises, speaking drills, and real-life missions.

About the Author

Umair Malik is a German author of Pakistani descent and a software engineer by profession.

Languages and writing have fascinated him for as long as he can remember — he’s always believed that thoughts, whatever shape they take, are worth putting into words. Living in Germany and surrounded by friends from all over the world, he found himself asked the same question again and again: how do you actually learn Urdu? And time and again, he ran into the same gap: university courses start with the script, while phrasebooks offer stiff, textbook translations that ignore culture and real conversation.

Chai Chalegi! is his answer — a practical, script-free introduction to spoken Urdu that gets beginners speaking real, culturally grounded conversations from the very first chapter.
